Connect With Your Creativity

 And Share it With Others

‘Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up’,
Picasso.

For many of us, creativity has been an important part of the last 6 months; a time to rely on our inner resources, and a way to explore coping with the changes happening around us. Maybe this time has allowed us to rediscover the aspirations of that artist child within each of us. Perhaps these challenging times have also provided a drive for us to reconnect with our shared humanity.

This is an invitation for you to share the art you have been creating since March this year.

Engaging with creativity can alter how we feel and connect with the world around us.

Open to all, from those who have been engaging with creativity for a lifetime to someone's first engagement with creative processes:  Work From Home is based on the generosity of sharing:

We are all individuals; as we each have unique handwriting so to are the marks we make, with pencil, paint or pen, all unique to us. We all see the world through the lens of our own unique experiences. By combining our experiences, with our ability to make marks, shape materials we express our unique vision and experience of the world. By sharing what we make or create we can encourage others to join in and share the work they produce. This has the chance to grow into a collection which can show at least one way we all have of marking our presence in the world and show that each individual's contribution has something unique to offer.

You can share your creative experience of the past months on Instagram with the hashtag #kssworkfromhome and include a couple of sentences about what engaging with creativity brings into your life.

If you would prefer to share anonymously you can email your image and words to us and we will post for you.

When circumstances allow, we intend to select a range of work to create a real exhibition.

This idea  has a strong and long standing connection with art; for many centuries objects have been placed in portraits to show the status, value and importance of the individual(s). Still life painting is another way of assembling objects to act as symbols of wealth, status, character; or reminders of other times, seasons and places.

One of the challenges we have faced this year has been a lot of time spent away from many of people we love and care about and a lot of time spent with ourselves!

Our idea is based on the psychological power of objects to hold the capacity to possess much more than their appearance, contents or function might suggest. They are touchstones, time capsules, connecting us to significant memories, people, places; a sense of what makes us who we are.

The idea:
This is quite simple and one which everyone adults and children can engage with. All it involves is selecting 7 objects which have personal significance to you and then photograph them as a group with a short description of each object.

The aim is to create a library of the Human Spirit: a collection of artifacts, touchstones of our shared humanity.
