Workshops & Events

At King Street Arts we aim to offer workshops which focus on exploring and developing our understanding and awareness of some of the methods involved in being creative. This can include the acquisition of practical skills and a basic understanding of the materials to be used in the workshop sessions. Our workshops also encourage participants to discover and appreciate that as being individuals we each have a unique set of skills, abilities, and awareness based on our personal life experiences. This uniqueness can and will contribute to the evolving of our own approach and process in realizing creative outcomes.

Create Natural Plant Ink

with Helen Leece

Four dates

Wednesday 5th June 10 - 1pm

Wednesday 10th July 10 - 1pm

£35 each including materials

Come and explore the wonders of natural ink making with Helen Leece. Helen lives in the beautiful Trough of Bowland and is a wildflower meadow conservationist and well practiced in Ayurveda plant medicine and Flower Essences. She will be holding a series of four workshops at King Street Arts to explore the connection of plants to art. Have you ever wondered how to create natural plant inks that can be used for painting your own creations? Learn what colour flowers and barks make and how to stabilise the ink. Come along and get creative with other artists and beginners while we explore the palette from nature.

We will explore different seasonal plants in each of the 4 sessions in this series, so each session will be distinct. Book one session or join us for all four.

We will begin with a seasonal herbal tea and explore the myth and medicine of our seasonal and local plants. The rest of the workshop will be at your own pace, in a relaxed environment as we explore the inks in depth, how to make them and you will have time to paint with them and see how they move and feel for you. Please bring your journal or watercolour note book .

Booking is essential.
